No matter what reason brings you to Malta, the capital city Valletta it is an unique destination that should be included in your list of places to travel.

Valletta Waterfront

 Valletta Waterfront is also the main port of Malta, where more than half-a-million cruise passengers are coming to visit. It’s possible to take a pic of its beautiful architecture from the ship itself.

Elevator to Barrakka Gardens

The ship was docking a walking distance from the center of Valletta. For a Euro price and a walking distance you can take an elevator that will drop you at Upper Barrakka Gardens, where you’ll start getting a notion of how beautiful this city is.

From the garden, a higher point, you can get great perspectives of the whole town, Every day at 4 pm trough a short reenactment, one of the cannons is fired, if you’ve got the chance to watch, it’s a nice experience.

Up there is also a great place to start your trip by having a coffee surrounded by gorgeous views. The place also offers you free wifi around the area.

Auberge de Castille

From here you can head straight to the next touristic point of Valletta: Auberge de Castille, an auberge that now hosts the office of the Primary Minister of Malta. 

Main streets in Valletta

Valletta is exciting, the main streets are usually full, lots of bars, cafes, restaurants and stores. Great place for sightseeing, eating good food and shopping. 

Valetta has more than one famous street, each of them with their own unique characteristics:

Republic Street, Merchant Street, Straight Street and St. Lucy Street, a street that became many Instagram posts.

Triton Fountain

Another tourist point to see is the Triton Fountain, built around 1952 and 1959 by a distinguished Maltese sculptor, the fountain is located right in the center of a large square, close to the city gate.

Shopping in Valletta

For the shopaholics on duty, Valletta offers many options, many favorite brands are there and cute unique handmade souvenirs too.

Prices in general are European standards and official languages are Maltese and English, Italian is also widely spoken. 

Exploring other places in Malta

The main places to see in Valletta are not that far, besides Valletta you can visit others amazing places like Mdina and Popeye Village.

 

Conclusion

As mentioned before on previous posts, I’ve been quite a few times to Malta, I can’t complain.

Got opportunities to have my breakfast in town more than once, tried nice desserts, had tasty lunch with good friends or simply wondered about the city and its historical buildings.
